BIOGRAPHY OF CHRISTA REINERT
I was born and raised in Iola, WI,
and upon graduation I attended UW-Madison where I graduated on the Dean’s list
with my Bachelor of Science degree in both Wildlife Ecology and Natural
Resource Management. I researched the
impacts PCBs and Dioxin have on Osprey in WI, and I assisted with Bald Eagle
monitoring for reproduction rates.
I secured a position with the WI DNR,
reintroducing Trumpeter Swans to Iron County and working on Jerry’s,
Methylmercury study on the common Loon.
At the completion of these projects and with little work available for
full time employment, Jerry and I decided to purchase the bait shop 19 years
ago (this summer is our 20th year). We
have operated the bait shop and after renovation added our Looney Beans Coffee
shop while raising our twins, who are graduating from high school in June
2019.
I have participated in Mercer over
the years in the following capacities; Active member of Mercer Loons,
Motorcycle Club Chairperson of 4th of July Committee, chairperson of Community
Softball Program, a director of the Chamber of Commerce, a business member of
the Chamber of Commerce Committee, participant in the Can-Yak Fishing
Tournament, design and implementation. Loon Day supporter, three- year Mercer
School Board member.
I enjoy the northwoods for many
reasons, but I truly enjoy fishing on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, bow hunting
both deer and bear on our property, gardening, bird identification, snow
shoeing, cross country skiing and bicycling.
I’ve enjoyed years of riding my Harley with a great group of friends in
the northwoods, fundraising and giving back to our local youth for all these
years.
