BIOGRAPHY OF CHRISTA REINERT I was born and raised in Iola, WI, and upon graduation I attended UW-Madison where I graduated on the Dean’s list with my Bachelor of Science degree in both Wildlife Ecology and Natural Resource Management. I researched the impacts PCBs and Dioxin have on Osprey in WI, and I assisted with Bald Eagle monitoring for reproduction rates. I secured a position with the WI DNR, reintroducing Trumpeter Swans to Iron County and working on Jerry’s, Methylmercury study on the common Loon. At the completion of these projects and with little work available for full time employment, Jerry and I decided to purchase the bait shop 19 years ago (this summer is our 20th year). We have operated the bait shop and after renovation added our Looney Beans Coffee shop while raising our twins, who are graduating from high school in June 2019. I have participated in Mercer over the years in the following capacities; Active member of Mercer...

Christa Reinert’s Re-election to the School Board I am running for reelection to Mercer school board because I care about the state of our school and our community. I want to continue to strive for higher academic achievement for our students, promote a positive staff environment, address the management of our school and the budgetary concerns that face the district of Mercer School. Reaching higher achievement will only happen when the School Board along with the Administration actually discusses state test results and addresses what we can do for our students. The below average ACT scores at Mercer School are a concern and I feel that with our near one on one teaching in Mercer we can work harder to improve these scores. Also, with our community friendly, small school we could utilize more of our retired professionals to establish programs to get these retirees into our school and enrich our students. education further. I have ...

Statement by Opal Roberts as a Candidate for Election to the Mercer Town Board As a resident of Mercer since 1980 I have observed our local government for a number of years. In 2003 I was elected as your Town Clerk and served in that position until I retired in 2013. During that time, I observed the Town Board in operation and, although I personally agreed with most of their decisions, there were some I did not think were all that intelligent. As clerk, I had no vote in the matter. Since 2008 to the present I have been elected Iron County Supervisor for District 12. During this time, I have advocated for more programs for the Mercer area and the hiring of Mercer residents for county jobs. As the chair of the Finance committee and also of Human Services I am well aware of the financial problems facing our local governments. In 2013 I ran for Town Chairman and lost by 12 votes so almost half ...

Statement by Christa A. Reinert as a Candidate for Election to the Mercer Town Board I am running for Mercer Town Supervisor as a 22 year resident of Mercer and a 19 year business owner. I have been very active in our community from the beginning, as a Chamber of Commerce director and member, Chairperson of the 4th of July committee and Community Softball program, active Mercer Loons Motorcycle member and a member of the Mercer School Board of Education. My Mercer community involvement has helped prepare me to represent Mercer as your Town Supervisor. I have seen the great improvements our town has completed including the downtown road and infrastructure upgrades, the bicycle path and industrial park construction. While these are crucial improvements, I feel these are not enough as our town falls short in providing sufficient living wage jobs and affordable housing. As a supervisor I would like to address further incentives to bring b...
